The builders are hoping to put on the slates soon, but there was more work to treat the timbers than originally expected. Click to see the latest pictures from St Joseph’s.
The roof timbers were not in a good condition and extra work was required to strengthen them. Some of the floor joists were found to be unsupported at one end, so that also need remedying.
All the wood has now been treated to prevent it becoming affected by wet or dry dry rot. Most of the sarking is in place on the roof, so the next stage will be to re-slate it. We are thankful that the calm and relatively dry weather has not held up the work so far.
