Choir

Choir

We only have a few voices in the choir, so we welcome anyone who would like to join us on a regular basis. We practice every Sunday in St Joseph’s Church hall at 10:45, to prepare for the Mass which starts at 11:30.

We do not sing anything complicated though we occasionally venture into 2 parts! The choir exists in order to lead congregation in the worship of God, and to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. The singing is mostly supported by keyboard, but some weeks our guitarist provides the backing.

Our choice of hymns endeavours to reflect the “themes” of the day’s gospel reading, or to support the actions of the priest and people at different points in the liturgy. Most of the music we sing is taken from our parish hymn book, Laudate, but occasionally we sing hymns from other books. There are so many beautiful hymns; no single book can hope to hold them all.

If you would like to join us, please contact the Parish Priest (01224 484226) or introduce yourself to one of the musicians after Mass.
