Parish Gardeners
St. Joseph’s church is blessed with large grounds, that include a car park, a lawn protected by a beautiful mature ash tree, and various flower beds. There is plenty of gardening work!
It is great to have the grassy area for the children to run around on. It also provides ample room for our annual Family Fun day, when we have a barbecue and a bouncy castle.
Over the years different parishioners and parish priests have worked to make our garden more interesting by planting trees, shrubs and flowers. We now have a flower border, shrubbery, rockeries, planters and a small sunny space for sunflowers. Recent additions include rhubarb, strawberries and two apple trees, as we try to make our garden productive.
We don’t have a garden committee – just people who do what seems necessary. There are always tasks to be done, such as mowing the lawn, weeding, planting, pruning and raking up leaves.
If you would like to help, or perhaps to adopt a section of the garden, please ask for Teresa at Mass You can find her in the choir on a Sunday morning.
